This Empowerment is a blessing ceremony that authorizes one to do the meditation practice of Chenrezig. The Refuge Vow is required and will be offered prior to the Empowerment. He was a great siddha, scholar, and a mountain Yogi from Tibet whose great compassion and realization transformed all who met him. Guru Yoga is a practice of expressing one’s faith and devotion to one’s Root Lama. In the Vajrayana tradition, Guru Yoga Practice is considered to be the most important practice one can perform. Without faith and devotion to the Root Lama, one is not able to receive blessings. Blessings purify one and create the foundation for understanding the nature of one’s mind. But the after-death state is not the only meaning of bardo. The tantras describe six bardos which include all of our experience: the bardo of this life, the bardo of dying, the luminous bardo of dharmata, the bardo of becoming (rebirth), the bardo of dream, and the bardo of meditation. MAHAKALA PUJA AND TSOK

MAHAKALA PUJA AND TSOK Sunday, February 7, 2016 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Arrival by 8:45 a.m.please) The Puja will be preceded by a talk by Venerable Lama Tsang Tsing explaining the meaning of this profound Puja and no entries will be permitted during the talk. Venerable Lama Tsang Tsing and his assisting Lamas will perform this all-day extensive Mahakala Puja for the benefit of the KDC Sangha and for all beings. This Puja is traditionally performed on Mahakala Day  before the beginning of the Tibetan New Year.  This year Mahakala Day falls on Sunday, February 7.  The Puja has the power and ability to clear away the obstacles and negativities of the past year and opens the door for the auspicious unfolding of the new year. SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA STATUE RAFFLE TO BENEFIT KDC

Lama Rick, the generous donor, had this to say regarding the Sakyamuni Buddha statue being raffled: “The statue was bought in Kathmandu, the “Eyes were Opened” and it was painted and sealed with mantra and substances by Umdze Jyaltsen at Sonada Monastery in 1985. Then it was blessed by Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche, and it sat in his private room for about 6 weeks …. Can’t buy that!” This beautiful statue has since graced the KDC living room mantlepiece, spreading blessings throughout the center and its environs. It will surely be a magnificent addition to anyone’s living quarters and an inspiring image for one’s practice.The dimensions are 10”H x 6-3/4”W x 4-1/2”D.
